❌ You want something lighter: While the Nacon Daija absolutely nails the feel of an authentic arcade setup, it does also happen to be one of the heaviest PS5 fight sticks available. If you’ve dreamed of having a particular color combo for your PS5 controller with the extra coin to spend, this is a great start. Ultimately, we found these functions are ultimately secondary to the design customization. You’re also getting remappable paddles, which you can use to free up your hands over the face buttons. The Scuf Reflex Pro retains everything that makes the PS5 DualSense special, the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. We found that it was easily the better investment here as it feels substantially more supportive than the otherwise smooth finish of the DualSense’s chassis. The main thing that separates the standard Reflex from the Pro variant is the ‘high-performance grip’, which costs $19.99 / £19.99 (approximately $AU38) to add to your controller. There are over 25 pre-made designs to choose from and a vast array of color combinations should you want to take things in a different direction. Our review unit has a black and red color scheme with a complementing face plate and color-matched buttons, triggers, bumpers, and D-pad. With prices starting at $219.99 / £219.99 (roughly AU$315), fine-tuning your pad doesn’t come cheap. You’re paying a pretty penny for the privilege, though. The main attraction of the Scuf Reflex Pro is its customization options, where you can create unique color schemes for your controller with a simple-to-use design tool. ❌ You enjoy haptic feedback: While the Scuf Reflex Pro features adaptive triggers as standard, these can be swapped out for instant-click versions, it doesn't have haptic feedback, instead just a basic rumble pack. But keep in mind that everything has been stripped back here to prioritize low latency and responsive gaming over more immersive features from the stock PS5 controller. Now, this isn’t just the case with the Victrix BFG Pro, as other officially licensed pads also aren’t using adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. The trade-off here is that you’re forgoing the DualSense functionality all together. You’ve also got a protective carrying case and a 3m long braided USB-C cable just in case you want to bring it to all kinds of gaming tournaments with you. A major strength of this PS5 controller that we found in our testing was the lengthy battery life, of which you can expect up to 20 hours, and the lightweight nature of the remote itself. Priced at $179.99 / £179.99 / AU$269, the Victrix Pro BFG is considerably more expensive than the standard DualSense, yes, but it does significantly undercut the competition from other first and third-party offerings. That’s because this gamepad features not only five different levels of trigger adjustments, four remappable back paddles, and multiple sticks and D-pads to choose from but also an entire fightpad module, too. If you’re after a competitive edge in some of the more demanding PS5 games then you should strongly consider the Victrix Pro BFG controller. ❌ You want to retain DualSense functionality: As with other third-party PS5 controllers, you won't find adaptive triggers or rumble of any kind on the Victrix Pro BFG. Seeing as some PS5 controllers aimed at the Esports scene strip away core DualSense functionality and cost more than this, such as with the Razer Wolverine V2 Pro, we think this model is a good investment for those who will use it to its full potential. We found that the controller averaged just over seven hours before going flat when utilizing everything that the Edge could do. You can expect anywhere from six to eight hours, depending on what features you’re using. The one thing that the DualSense Edge doesn’t address is the battery life. Depending on how you play on your PS5, you’ll either notice these additions as game changers or nice extras. We particularly enjoyed the adjustable trigger stops, rear paddles, and function buttons which made a real difference in games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Returnal. It feels like a premium product while offering the extra functionality you should expect from a controller that’s more than double the cost of a standard DualSense. It’s down to the redesigned triggers, touchpad, and slightly heavier chassis. The biggest upgrade with the DualSense Edge is in the build quality and aesthetic tweaks. Priced at $199.99 / £209.99 / AU$339.95, this gamepad isn’t meant to replace the standard PS5 controller. While the DualSense Edge is only a slight improvement over the stock model, what’s offered here with this upgraded version is more likely to appeal to hardcore gamers. ❌ You want good value for money: With its steep asking price and worse battery life than the original, the DualSense Edge could be too expensive for some.

Inspiration came from a small tomato-shaped kitchen timer. He kept getting distracted and losing focus (and he didn't even have Instagram or TikTok), so he went looking for a way to keep his mind on track. Even I can keep typing that long.įrancesco Cirillo developed the Pomodoro Technique in the 1980s when he was in college in Italy and struggling to study. I'm just seven minutes into my current work block, but I know I only have to wait 18 more minutes until my next cup of coffee. That's long enough that you can stay engaged and make real progress, without feeling like it's a grind, while the 5-minute breaks, which never feel far off, give you a chance to freely check Twitter or look at some emails without overly disrupting your workflow. The work blocks are just 25 minutes long. What makes the Pomodoro Technique so effective is just how easy it is to implement. I'm using it right now to write this article. As a professional writer, it's the tool I bust out whenever I need to hit a deadline or just get work done without dawdling. While it didn't single-handedly get me through my college degrees, it helped me get better grades with less effort. I've used the Pomodoro Technique (or variations on it that we'll look at later) for more than a decade. After that, you take a 15- to 30-minute break, depending on how you feel. Here's what you do: You set a timer for 25 minutes, work until it's up, then take a 5-minute break-and repeat the whole process three more times. The Pomodoro Technique sounds unbelievably basic, but it works far better than you'd think. While any timer (or timer app) will work for the Pomodoro Technique, a dedicated Pomodoro app can make the already simple technique even simpler by automatically alternating between work and break periods, tracking how many different periods you've completed, and generally just smoothing out the hassle of winding up a manual timer or constantly checking the clock. Unless you are absolutely, positively certain that you’ll never get an Xbox console, the 7X is a better buy all around. The Arctis 7P works with everything except Xbox consoles. In other words: The Arctis 7X works with everything. The 7P’s dongle, however, doesn’t have this switch its only advantage is that the dongle is a little smaller. As such, the 7X’s dongle has a small switch that you can toggle between “USB” and “Xbox” when you move it between platforms. Briefly: Xbox consoles use a different wireless protocol than other systems. What’s odd, though, is that only the Arctis 7X model works with Xbox consoles - even though both the 7P and the 7X cost the same. In my opinion, it’s a cleaner solution than Bluetooth, and works both quickly and seamlessly. This means that it can connect with smartphones, tablets and Nintendo Switches in handheld mode. What sets the Arctis 7P/7X apart from most other gaming headsets on the market is that it employs a USB-C dongle for pairing rather than USB-A. The software and mic work fine, but what’s more interesting is the Arctis 7P/7X’s wireless connectivity. It picks up a little background noise, and can go heavy on “S” sounds, but it’s clear and responsive overall. The mic itself is a retractable design with a red light that lets you know when the input is muted. Through the SteelSeries Engine 3 software, users can customize equalization profiles, inactivity timeouts and mic options for the SteelSeries Arctis 7P/7X. Granted, a gaming headset’s primary purpose isn’t to play music, but Logitech, Turtle Beach, HyperX and other competitors have both improved music performance over the last few years by leaps and bounds SteelSeries hasn’t. Handel, and while bass, treble and vocals all sounded distinct, there was a distinct lack of punch to everything, even with the “Music” soundscape selected in the SteelSeries Engine 3 software. I listened to songs from Flogging Molly, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Rolling Stones and G.F. Most music has sort of a flat sound that borders on “muddy” when things get loud or complicated. This was something of an issue with the Arctis 7 as well, and one of the only things that SteelSeries hasn’t improved between versions. My only complaint is about how the Arctis 7P/7X handles music. Whether it was dealing with colonial gunfire, cheerful anime dialogue or sweeping adventure scores, the Arctis 7P/7X did a great job of balancing voicework and music, with a rich, vibrant soundscape and a good balance between bass and treble. Without going into too much detail about each system, the Arctis 7P/7X’s performance was strong across the board. SteelSeries Arctis 7P (Image credit: SteelSeries) I tested it with a variety of games across a variety of platforms: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition on the PC, Blasphemous on the Xbox One, Genshin Impact on the PS4, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition on the Switch (both handheld and docked) and Tales of Crestoria on Android. Like its predecessor, the SteelSeries Arctis 7P/7X works beautifully with every game genre. She said it was easy to wear, and more comfortable than the SteelSeries Arctis 1 – her usual go-to. In fact, I handed the headset off to my domestic partner, who used it to watch TV while I was working. Not only is the process effortless, but it’s also incredibly convenient if you share the headset with a spouse or roommate. You can tighten or loosen it slightly with a Velcro strap. You simply put the headset on your head, and the band conforms to the shape of your skull. The SteelSeries Arctis 7P/7X doesn’t have any notches or expandable arms, relying instead on an elastic band for the perfect fit. I’ve discussed the SteelSeries “ski goggles” elastic band design in other Arctis reviews, but it’s worth reiterating here. While there’s nothing fancy about the headset, there’s also nothing garish about it, and it would look perfectly natural out and about. The Arctis 7P/7X weighs about 12 ounces, so it sits very lightly on a user’s head. Granted, you could always buy your own adapter instead, but I wonder whether SteelSeries could have included a dongle adapter rather than a wire. For the most part, the USB-C-plus-adapter setup works well, although it does create some unsightly trip hazards, depending on where your consoles are situated. This essentially makes it compatible with any platform right out of the box - although the 7P isn’t compatible with any Xbox systems (more on this later). Instead of a USB-A dongle or the Xbox’s built-in wireless protocols, the Arctis 7P/7X relies on a USB-C dongle, with an included USB-A adapter. What sets the Arctis 7P/7X apart from most other gaming headsets is in how it connects. The original PNG specification was authored by an ad hoc group of computer graphics experts and enthusiasts. With this all major browsers now support APNG. In January 2020, Microsoft Edge became Chromium based, thus inheriting support for APNG. In 2017, Chromium based browsers adopted APNG support. APNG is a format that is natively supported by Gecko- and Presto-based web browsers and is also commonly used for thumbnails on Sony's PlayStation Portable system (using the normal PNG file extension). In 2008, certain Mozilla developers published the Animated Portable Network Graphics (APNG) format with similar goals. MNG achieved moderate application support, but not enough among mainstream web browsers and no usage among web site designers or publishers. In 2001, the developers of PNG published the Multiple-image Network Graphics (MNG) format, with support for animation. Īlthough GIF allows for animation, it was decided that PNG should be a single-image format. Version 1.2, released on 11 August 1999, added the iTXt chunk as the specification's only change, and a reformatted version of 1.2 was released as a second edition of the W3C standard on 10 November 2003, and as an International Standard ( ISO/IEC 15948:2004) on 3 March 2004. The specification was revised on 31 December 1998 as version 1.1, which addressed technical problems for gamma and color correction. The full specification of PNG was released under the approval of W3C on 1 October 1996, and later as RFC 2083 on 15 January 1997. The group would become known as the PNG Development Group, and as the discussion rapidly expanded, it later used a mailing list associated with a CompuServe forum. Other suggestions later implemented included the deflate compression algorithm and 24-bit color support, the lack of the latter in GIF also motivating the team to create their file format. Oliver Fromme, author of the popular JPEG viewer QPEG, proposed the PING name, eventually becoming PNG, a recursive acronym meaning PING is not GIF, and also the. Other users in that thread put forth many propositions that would later be part of the final file format. One of them was Thomas Boutell, who on 4 January 1995 posted a precursory discussion thread on the Usenet newsgroup "aphics" in which he devised a plan for a free alternative to GIF. The patent required that all software supporting GIF pay royalties, leading to a flurry of criticism from Usenet users. The motivation for creating the PNG format was the realization that, on 28 December 1994, the Lempel–Ziv–Welch (LZW) data compression algorithm used in the Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) format was patented by Unisys. See also: Graphics Interchange Format § Unisys and LZW patent enforcement PNG was published as an informational RFC 2083 in March 1997 and as an ISO/IEC 15948 standard in 2004. PNG files have the ".png" file extension and the "image/png" MIME media type. A PNG file contains a single image in an extensible structure of chunks, encoding the basic pixels and other information such as textual comments and integrity checks documented in RFC 2083. The PNG working group designed the format for transferring images on the Internet, not for professional-quality print graphics therefore, non-RGB color spaces such as CMYK are not supported. PNG supports palette-based images (with palettes of 24-bit RGB or 32-bit RGBA colors), grayscale images (with or without an alpha channel for transparency), and full-color non-palette-based RGB or RGBA images. PNG was developed as an improved, non-patented replacement for Graphics Interchange Format (GIF)-unofficially, the initials PNG stood for the recursive acronym "PNG's not GIF". Portable Network Graphics ( PNG, officially pronounced / p ɪ ŋ/ PING, colloquially pronounced / ˌ p iː ɛ n ˈ dʒ iː/ PEE-en- JEE) is a raster-graphics file format that supports lossless data compression. 89 50 4e 47 0d 0a 1a 0a (8 bytes Hexadecimal) |
